LIFELIKE: Day 0 - README!

Thank you all for an amazing first day!

This is Mantis, though I'm sure most of you who are reading this know me. For those who don't, a brief introduction:

I am the main force behind this game, and I spend a majority of my time working on it! I come from a background of fine art and odd entrepreneurial jobs such as making my own wall calendars. I am now nearly finished with my formal education in game design. Enough about me though, that's not why you're here.

Let's talk LIFELIKE:

Where do we go from here?

  • Firstly, you should download the day 1 patch. It contains small fixes to breaks that you likely didn't encounter and minor aesthetic fixes. A dedicated player found a frame and condition specific bug that was equivalent to winning the lottery, which has been patched  (thank you Maedaez for putting LIFELIKE through the wringer, as always!)
    • Patching this bug brought me to the realization I did not have the new versions of LIFELIKE uploaded to a channel (this means I can push updates that work as patches rather than players needing to update the full game)  This has been fixed, thank you for bearing with me on that, it was a bit tricky to wrangle.
    • I will post a tutorial on how to update your build once I have a new patch in the track 1 channel. For the time being, it needs to be downloaded again.
  • Track 2 work will begin after I spend time polishing the dialogue and cutscene system. This is less for aesthetic polish and more of a necessity for me to work much more efficiently in the future.
  • I've made enough from sales today to subscribe/buy the Apple Developer Program which will allow the Mac version of the game to run without an immediate quarantine. When this is taken care of it will be announced here!
  • Another important trailer is in the works--this one is going to blow your mind.
  • Merch... It's coming! I'm working on getting a storefront and various designs ready.
  • I also have a much needed vacation coming up, which will be a welcome rest for my weary wrists. Carpal tunnel is no joke! Self care is definitely on my list of things to improve on.  LIFELIKE will become an even better game when I am feeling my best working on it.

I plan on writing devlogs weekly as a way to gauge my progress and update those who are interested in the game. I cannot thank everyone enough for such an exciting and rewarding launch day. If you purchased or downloaded the game, I thank you from the bottom of my heart!

(And if you are one of the folks who tipped me, you have earned my undying gratitude <3)

Thanks all, and I will see you next week!
