LIFELIKE: Day 51


Hello! Back to Sunday updates, let’s get right into it:

  • 2.3 migration is complete! I’m super glad this is out of the way! The new array system really clicked in my brain this week and I was able to power through the rest of migration early on. 
  • With migration finished, I’m now back to getting the rest of the game into a single executable file. This means that each episode will be able to be played in the same executable and will be able to be accessed from a “Tracklist” on the title screen. I’ve gotten a rough tracklist menu working, along with a system that loads the appropriate script file, cutscenes, and assets in game. Now I’m going through and adding all of the cutscenes to the new system. 
    • Track 1 is nearly reimplemented. Again, this is a pretty boring thing that I don’t have a ton to say about. It’s a lot of copy pasting and testing!
    • Gamemaker 2.3 looks like it has the ability to bulk import(!!) from other GameMaker projects which is huge for me. It will make building the Overture into the combined game MUCH faster. 
  • Track 2 is progressing as well! I am currently working on environments, new character sprites, and the script.
