LIFELIKE: Day 72


Hello! This will be a relatively short devlog. I've been devving daily but it's a lot of work honing in on a few areas that don't have much I can show.

  • The little visual work I did this week involved a much needed resprite of Leo's bathroom. This was one of the first rooms I sprited and it showed. Much better! This will likely be the last respriting I do for the time being. I need to move forward.

  • I nearly met my Track 2 word count goal this week, with five days of 500 words written! (Hopefully another five hundred before I sleep tonight as well.) The script is now around 5000 words and I will continue with my goal of 500 a day until it's ready for editing. Many details have fallen into place and I'm very excited to animate all of these cool new cutscenes when the time comes!
  • Overture rebuilding is in full swing, I've got object and layer managers all sorted out, and created an NPC manager which is all I needed to move forward. I have three rooms roughly converted and am working this week on converting the rest alongside writing Track 2.  I am trying to convert one room per day, though larger rooms can take me several. I'll set my goal at four rooms converted this week, which should put me about halfway through Overture conversion. This is super boring work and I'm more than ready to power through it!
  • For those who know about it, the infinite burrito/fruit snack exploits in the Overture have been addressed and will be patched with the next update.

Thank you so much! I'm starting to get into the nitty gritty of writing where I have to really consider gameplay so the words are coming a bit slower. Your kind words have been very motivational during all of this tricky work!
