LIFELIKE: Day 121
Hello! Despite quite the hectic week at school, I managed to get a fair bit of work done, let’s dive into it:
- The sound controller has been completely remade. It’s much more efficient and flexible.
- Fullscreen presets and other options/accessibility selections save their positions even if you quit the game without saving. This means that upon launching the game, your window will immediately resize or fullscreen itself and your previously chosen volume levels, etc. will return to where they were when the game was last running.
- In the in-game save menu, the file that is currently being played will display the word ‘active’ next to it. This helps players track which slot they are currently playing and manage other slots they may wish to return to later.
- Toaster battle bg recolored. This took five minutes but I mentioned it last time. It’s done now!
- Fixed a few save bugs. Nothing catastrophic, but they were very confusing to encounter.
- Playtesting fixes: various continuity issues addressed (things loading at the wrong time), polishing loose ends in redone systems, etc. These are still ongoing but I’m happy with pace and polish.
On a more exciting note:
- I think things are moving with the soundtrack release. I still have some logistical aspects to figure out, but it’s on the horizon!
- Leo’s birthday is soon…
This next week is going to be busy with school again. I’m ramping up Track 2 work as I’m pretty firmly in playtesting and minor bug fix territory for the combined game. I’m happy to say that the rebuilding process took about as long as I thought it would instead of grossly over estimates. I can’t promise any dates that it will release yet other than when I’m comfortable with its stability (ideally less than a month). When I do release, I will likely leave the old version that you have available until I’m sure there are no major issues in the new build.
This week’s itinerary includes:
- Finalizing textbox automatic newline behavior
- As much playtesting as I can manage (this will be a majority of my week)
- [Redacted 1] walk diagonal all directions
- [Redacted 1] Idle all directions
- [Redacted 2] Idle all directions, if I get the time
Look at that! I’m finally getting into redatcted territory!
See you next week,
Mantis
