Hello again! Let’s talk about LIFELIKE. This week I:
- Released the updated Mac version! Check out yesterday’s announcement for more information.
- Established a schedule for the rest of Track 2’s development. This is a milestone based system with deliverables each month, though I’ll still use devlogs as waypoints. It’s a tight turnaround, but I’m confident in getting it done now that I’ve got a schedule.
- Completed all character move sprites! This was a big one! All party idles, runs, walks, diagonals, etc. are done!
- Edited Track 2’s script. This is still in progress, but I plan on having the full script in a rough draft state with all events and locations finalized by the end of the month. I found an elegant, short, and plot-relevant way to execute the part I was blocked on all this time. It’s a fun side plot that will wind its way through the episode until a critical point. Plot-invested players will enjoy seeing what it calls back to as well ;)
- Began scouting streamers.
With the new schedule in place, what’s happening this week?
- Finishing the draft of Track 2’s script to finalize all locations is on deck first. Once this is done, I will start getting a skeleton of the episode in-engine.
- Begin editing the script in December. First drafts are never pretty. If you have been following the game for a while, you may remember a time when the Overture was released prior to my editor joining the team. It was rough!
- Prepare all movement cycles that are not in engine to go in engine, and create talk sprites. This is already in progress, but will need to be done before in-engine work starts in December.
- Begin spriting locations for Track 2. This is also somewhat in progress. Track 2 introduces a few new locations that are blocked out, but need touching up to be consistent with the updated script or put in engine. Easy stuff, just needs to get done.
- Draft emails and reach out to streamers after the holiday week! I’ve missed doing regular streams, I’m excited to get LIFELIKE back out there (and could use the sales)
